Workforce Gender Equality Employer Statement

At ElectraNet, we’re committed to creating a workplace where diversity thrives and where every individual has equal access to opportunities. This commitment is woven into our policies and processes which drives meaningful improvements in employee experience, remuneration, and workplace equity.

The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) will publish 2023-24 gender pay gap data and associated metrics for organisations with over 100 employees in Q1 2025.

Gender pay gaps are an important measure of progress toward achieving gender equality. They represent the difference in average earnings between all men and women across an organisation, industry, or workforce. Importantly, this is distinct from equal pay, which focuses on the earnings of men and women in the same role or job level.

ElectraNet’s reporting for the 2023-24 year highlights key achievements including robust parental leave policies and our sustained efforts to attract and retain talented women in the energy sector, where diversity has traditionally been underrepresented. Notably, female participation in our workforce now exceeds the industry average, reflecting our commitment to fostering a more inclusive and balanced workplace.

It is important to note that WGEA has updated its methodology for calculating and comparing gender pay gaps for the 2023-24 reporting period. These changes include the incorporation of CEO remuneration data and the use of the midpoint of gender pay gaps within the comparison group, rather than the average.  As a result of these changes, direct comparisons between the data presented in this statement and data from previous years should be made with caution.

For the year ending March 2024, ElectraNet’s reported average gender pay gap stands at 25.1%, higher than the industry benchmark of 22.6%. Our median gender pay gap of 25.2% aligns closely with the industry median of 25.5%.

While this reflects some structural factors including a higher proportion of women in traditionally female-dominated job families, we are working towards strategies to address gender disparities and increase female participation across all levels of the business.
